Our clients own and operate a mixed farming operation in the central wheatbelt area of WA consisting of 7000 Ha of dryland cropping and 1500 Ha of livestock grazing country. Running a 4000-ewe merino flock and between 2000 and 3000 dry sheep (DSE), as well as growing wheat, barley, canola and lupins.

There is an opportunity for a permanent Livestock Overseer to join the team. The Livestock Overseer will be responsible for assisting the farm owners in implementing the farming program on an annual basis, including all aspects of implementing the cropping and livestock enterprises. To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate and implement a culture of excellence and attention to detail to ensure good outcomes for the business in a safe and timely manner.

Reporting to the owner you will be responsible for maintaining all paddock and machinery records and communicating with owners regularly on planning and progress of work.

This is a hands-on role and requires a thorough knowledge of an ability to coordinate staff and contractors as required to complete all tasks including shearing, crutching and sheep husbandry, general farm maintenance, and paddock preparation.
Skills and qualifications to be successful in this role,

  • 2- 3 year’s experience is a similar role overseeing sheep and cropping operations.
  • Ability and experience in operating and maintain a range of farm machinery including tractors, boom sprays, harvesters, and trucks.
  • A range of general farm skills to maintain and repair farm infrastructure including fences, sheds, yards and water points.
  • Good record keeping skills including computer skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and good communication skills.
  • Willingness to work hard and complete tasks to a high standard.
  • Current driver’s licence – Truck licence would be highly regarded.

The property is located in the Konnongorring area 2 hours north east of Perth. A competitive salary package will be negotiated with the successful candidate dependent on skills and experience. A comfortable house, farm ute for work use only, and a contribution to water and electricity is all included.
