The Bonaccord Group is an Australian owned and operated family business producing quality produce since 1975 and freighting perishable goods since 1989. Located in Eastern Victoria, its close proximity to the Gippsland lakes system means temperatures are mild, creating ideal growing conditions all year round. With rich alluvial soils, and the Mitchell River along with some private off-river storages for irrigation, Bonaccord produces a range of fresh produce that can be picked, cooled, packed and freighted for purchase the next day by the consumer, both within Victoria and interstate.

We currently seeking a few casual paddock workers who are available for an immediate start. This is not seasonal work. The work is available all year round and potentially gain full-time employment in the future.

Job Description:

  • Manually harvesting designated crops (cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, cos lettuce, baby leaves, etc) with a knife in line with customer specification and cutting procedure, to ensure that food safety & quality is not compromised as a result of harvesting activities.
  • Ensure that a safe working environment is maintained by understanding and implementing safety policies that adhere to legal standards.
  • Assist in the packing, stacking and sorting of designated crops, including folding crates/carton boxes. (up to 20kg)
  • Transplanting of designated crops following efficient transplanting techniques to optimise transplanting activities.
  • Operate tractor only if authorised by harvesting supervisor. Paddock workers must possess a current driving licence and has been trained on safe tractor operations to drive a tractor.
  • Weeding when necessary.
  • Cleaning of equipment, farm machinery, working vehicles or other equipment as directed.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with company policies, procedures and instructions.
  • Other farm and shed work as directed by Supervisors.

To apply for this job, you must:

  • at least hold residency or a valid visa to work in Australia
  • be able to work 6 days a week, including weekends and public holidays
  • be flexible with working hours
  • be flexible with job assignment
  • be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions (e.g. hot, cold, wet, windy, etc.)
  • be physically fit and cope with a fast pace working environment
  • have good attention to detail
  • have your own reliable vehicle to get to work
  • organise your own accommodation
  • be able to attend a remote interview via Zoom Meeting.

The pay rate is $24.80/hr (adult rate). Overtime and public holiday rate are paid in accordance with Horticulture Award, Casual, Level 1.

No experience required, but previous vegetable harvesting experience will be an advantage.

This job is a "specified work" that fulfils 2nd and 3rd Working Holiday Visa requirement.
