Qualified Head Veterinary Nurse

My Vet Animal Hospital is a complete purpose-built veterinary hospital located in Waterloo, Sydney.

The veterinary hospital has been open for almost 7 years and is a 3 vets and 4.5 nurses practice. We are looking for a bright and bubbly Head Nurse to join our team. At My Vet, we are more than just a vet hospital - we have a very different work culture and we are always striving to improve. We are looking for someone who is going to grow with us as a team.

We have a full time vacant position available (those on working/student visas are welcome to apply).

The Position Would Suit Someone Who Is

  • Qualified with a Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing with 10+ years experience in the animal industry
  • Great leader and empower junior staff members
  • Enthusiastic and hard working with an excellent work attitude
  • Dedicated and committed to animal care
  • Excellent in customer service and communication skills
  • Reliable, honest and trustworthy
  • Able to work unsupervised & as part of a team
  • Able to efficiently multitask & follow directions
  • Eager to learn and expand their veterinary knowledge
  • Good at keeping work area neat and tidy while maintaining cleanliness of the clinic

The position will require the successful candidate to be proficient in:
  • All aspects of surgical nursing tasks including anaesthesia (including induction and intubation), patient monitoring, pre and post-op care, cleaning surgical instruments, surgical pack preparation
  • Able to handle complicated anaesthetic cases as we have specialist surgeons that visit our hospital for cases
  • Proficient in medical nursing, including placing intravenous catheters, collecting blood samples and conducting routine dental procedures.
  • Understanding and capable of using equipment such as in-house IDEXX pathology machines, microscope, digital radiography, dental radiography, dentistry units, and autoclave machine
  • Reception and administration duties, including phone calls, payments, making appointments, managing schedule and emails, admissions and discharges
  • Able to manage and train junior nurses as we take in vet nurse interns

Your Salary, Hours

Along with an attractive annual salary dependent on experience ($63-65k pa). Working hours are 38hrs/week and we offer the standard 4 week Annual Leave.
