Station Couple position is now available on a family owned and managed cattle breeding, growing and fattening operation located near Charters Towers, QLD. The position would ideally suit an experienced station couple/young family; one person with solid stock handling skills and a casual position for partner; working approximately one day per week carrying out domestic, caretaking and station hand assistance.

The day-to-day role for Experienced Station Hand will include, but not limited to:

• All cattle husbandry and handling
• Responsible for maintenance of high standard of water quality and quantity
• Assist with monitoring of stocking rates and pasture management
• Perform maintenance and repair of fencing, water systems, plant and equipment
• Adhering to and maintaining a high standard of work place health and safety practices
• Report directly to owner

Position Requirements for Experienced Station Hand:

• Passion for agriculture with positive attitude to working and life
• Demonstrated minimum of 3 years current experience handling large cattle numbers
• Competent with all aspects of cattle husbandry
• Skilled horseman with ability to shoe horses
• Competent riding two wheel motorbike in basalt country
• Sound mechanical and welding skills
• HR truck licence or willingness to obtain
• Proven longevity of employment
• Self-motivated with proven ability to work independently
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate on all levels

The role for Partner will include, but not limited to:

• Station hand assistance
• Caretaking in owners absence
• Domestic duties

Position Requirements:

• Competent at caretaking duties
• Positive attitude to work
• Mature attitude and physically fit
• Must be well organised and self motivated
