The school also maintains a Small Animal Hospital and Large Animal Clinic at Dayboro, north-west of Brisbane.

About This Opportunity

A fantastic opportunity for a Veterinary Clinician to be responsible for providing high quality, relationship-centred care to small animal patients, within the Small Animal Hospital situated on the Gatton campus. The appointee will participate in the management of cases presenting to the primary care service, which may include urgent or emergency cases presenting to the afterhours or weekend clinical service. In addition to ensuring excellence in clinical care, the incumbent will actively participate in the clinical teaching and instruction of undergraduate veterinary science and veterinary technology students, as well as clinical training and mentoring of small animal interns and junior clinicians.

This position is located at The University of Queensland’s picturesque Gatton Campus. Gatton Campus, UQ combines its Queensland Agricultural College heritage with modern research and teaching facilities in agriculture, agribusiness and veterinary science. Just over an hour’s drive west of Brisbane and five kilometres from the local township, the 1068-hectare Gatton campus offers a relaxed, friendly atmosphere and world-class facilities including the Queensland Animal Science Precinct, the UQ Veterinary Medical Centre, Gatton Research Dairy, nursery and glasshouse facilities, the southern hemisphere’s largest PV solar array research facility, and a pesticide wind tunnel facility. The campus also operates several commercial plant and animal production units in rural technologies to support teaching, research and hands-on training.

Our Ideal Candidate

Applicants must have completed a Bachelor of Veterinary Science or equivalent degree (registrable in Queensland) along with relevant and recent experience in general practice or emergency and critical care. A commitment and enthusiasm for the education of Veterinary Science and Veterinary Technology is a must. Demonstrated relationship-centered approach to veterinary care, with a commitment to developing genuine partnerships with the entire healthcare team would be advantageous.

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time fixed term appointment at HEW Level 6 or 7 for up to 12 months.

For HEW Level 6, the remuneration will be in the range of $80,784 to $86,768, plus employer superannuation of 17% and recreation leave loading of 17.5%.

For HEW Level 7, the remuneration will be in the range of $88,763 to $96,783, plus employer superannuation of 17% and recreation leave loading of 17.5%.
