DPI Research Excellence supports DPI’s innovation and risk management goals by driving scientific excellence and strategy through our research institutes and stations and building strong scientific capability across DPI. Opened in 1990 at Camden, 60 km south of Sydney, EMAI's 1600 hectares is NSW DPI’s Centre of Excellence for Plant and Animal Health. It is NSW’s premier quarantine and biosecurity facility with critical infrastructure and world recognised research scientists.


About the Role


In your new role reporting to the Farm Supervisor, you will perform integral farming activities for the NSW DPI Research Excellence branch at the Elizabeth Macarthur Agriculture Institute (EMAI), to ensure the efficient operation of the farm and surrounds and to support the research and commercial activities on site.


You will apply your best practice farming skills to carry out farming and field maintenance activities to support the EMAI research and commercial agricultural production programs in fodder, pastures, livestock and farm asset maintenance.


This busy role will handle livestock, operate and maintain tractors and other farm equipment, maintain farm and grounds (including fencing and repair of buildings, plant and structures). Record keeping will also be required relating to stock, paddock, chemical and machinery usage and maintenance.


About You


To be considered for this role, you will have some previous experience in livestock handling, a knowledge of machinery operation and experience in general farm maintenance. You will also have basic computer literacy, a current driver’s licence, a Chemical Users Certificate AQF 3 (or the ability to obtain) and a current forklift licence (or the ability to obtain). A NSW MR or HR vehicle licence would be highly regarded.
