Arrowfield Stud located in Scone in the Hunter Valley is currently seeking highly experienced and capable staff to join our team on a full-time basis.
The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of industry best practice, with either international experience or a thorough understanding of the global trends of the thoroughbred industry.
The primary role will include handling, educating, and parading yearlings, including colts; training other young stock; foaling mares; assisting Veterinarian with ultrasound/reproduction examinations and providing appropriate health care, as well re-educating horses as required. Handling, training, and parading breeding stallions maybe also be required.
All applicants must have a minimum of at least 3 years full time professional experience in the role unless they have a relevant equine qualification, then 2 years full time professional experience will be sufficient
Proven ability to train and educate young horses with ability to manage either stallions or mares desirable
Knowledge and experience of horse training and handling methods specific to thoroughbred breeding
Ability to work in a team and independently (or proven management experience if the position is for a management role)
Knowledge of safe operation of all equipment and use of personal protective equipment
Sound knowledge of health and safety obligations and demonstrated skills in safe operation of equipment relevant to the training and preparation of racehorses
The Salary for this position will be above award and based on your skills and experience in the range of $54,000 to $56,000 per annum. Accommodation may also be offered on the farm or in Scone.
